Children with autism have different mental and physical developments, and they may find it hard to understand unexpected scenarios resulting in exaggerated emotional responses. Therefore, children with autism are more likely to have meltdowns in public areas. What’s worse, because there’s no apparent and outward sign of the condition despite the significant difficult experience, tensions in public places often occur and those children always get misunderstood. They are afraid to go out, and just hide at home, like living on a lonely planet.
Nunu is a series of children’s books specially designed for children with autism. It helps children be better prepared for different scenarios, so they will not be afraid to go. It creates an enjoyable and tranquil experience for the children by incorporating various games, interactions, and educational information while they are in public areas. The design intends to help those children come back to earth.
